As a rough guideline, administrators usually require editors to have made more than 500 useful non-botlike edits, and to have been active in the last thirty days. Patrollers and License reviewers don't have to request this flag.
Hi @LosPajaros, you could do that by a request at COM:OWR. The only problem one can have with granting you this right is the long history of redlinks in your talk page archives, though the last batch is 9 months old. Can you tell us that you've understood where things went wrong for you back then? Shaan SenguptaTalk04:31, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've enabled overwriting on the file (although I'd suggest uploading a png version of this file too). You had three blocks in 2021, and some more recent deletions over sound files that weren't actually from federal employees. So I am feeling cautious about this request. Abzeronow (talk) 22:55, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I would like to request autopatrol rights so that I can upload recordings of myself, such as saying Vietnamese phrases like "kh?ng có ??u ph?ng", which will go to English Wikivoyage.
Your edit count is a bit low. You can use .ogg or .flac for recordings but I think you'd be trustworthy enough to be able to upload mp3s. So I'll just wait a bit until you're over 200 edits. Abzeronow (talk) 01:32, 19 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I am seeking rights to overwrite "Kit body" style uploads on WikiCommons. I create my own designs representing Association Football kits for display on the Wikipedia pages of Association Football Clubs, as well correct designs from other users to allow for a more accurate and truer depiction. I am therefore seeking Autopatrol rights to continue my work. Thank you. ZephyrTurtle14 (talk) 23:06, 25 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I want to upload improved new versions of existing files. Weeks ago I had tried to upload a higher-resolution version of GillrayBritannia.jpg, but that didn't work and I wasn't permitted to (thankfully since my change would've been misguided and likely reverted anyway), so I just wound up uploading it here. Now I want to upload an improved cut of En-us-you're2.ogg, but still mayn't, which is inconvenient. I need those rights so that I can readily upload better versions of files in the future, whenever necessary and appropriate. To evaluate my right- and trustworthiness, have a look at my 1000+ edits on Wiktionary and Wikipedia. (In fact, I had been motivated to editing and improving that .ogg audio file while browsing the you're entry and casually listening to the pronunciations.) Thank you. — Bytekast (talk) 21:59, 30 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
only 22 edits here, I'd be willing to grant to you at 200. What do you mean by "an improved cut"? (I could add the template to the file that allows overwriting). Abzeronow (talk) 01:31, 31 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Aw come on! Don't my global edits count towards that? Aren't they enough? It will take a long time for me to reach the 200 mark here! I almost never edit here. My focuses are the dictionary first, then the encyclopedia. *sigh* Anyway, by "improved cut" I meant this. It's an end-trimmed OGG, now compare with the original. Sounds more professional and pleasing now! Bytekast (talk) 01:56, 31 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The guideline is 500, I'm taking your global edits into account when I say 200. Anyway, I've added the template to the file so you may overwrite it now. Abzeronow (talk) 02:03, 31 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello! I usually update national parliamentary diagrams if there are changes to parties, as well as planning to update outdated government seals and logos and wish to do so without individually requesting on COM:OWR. I would like to update for instance File:20th House of Representatives composition.svg, with a formerly independent member joining a national party, and that there are four vacant seats currently. Thank you. FiveGeekabytes (talk) 00:56, 31 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I am requesting the rights to overwrite existing files. I mostly upload media for BLPs related to American politics but also election maps, the latter is my main reason for this request. Election maps like the File:2026 Texas State House election.svg are updated frequently, in this case because it tracks retirements of incumbent representatives. As the file has not been updated since its original upload in May, I tried to upload a new version to reflect an updated status, but it seems I am unable to do so and must request permission. I have an established history of uploading new versions of election maps like this, for example File:2026 California State Assembly election.svg, so I hope I can be approved. Thanks! Stanloona2020 (talk) 05:17, 6 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've enabled overwriting on the Texas map. Your history seems to indicate some copyright issues with files relating to government so I feel a bit cautious about granting this right. Abzeronow (talk) 21:48, 7 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
So I just read the topmost section of this forum and I'm confused. Are you looking to ask for rights from me on something? I'm not sure I understand. Please clarify how I might help. MichalisXanthopoulos (talk) 07:25, 11 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Some recent DRs over their misunderstanding of PD-art (which only applies to 2D works, not 3D works or photos of works that have 3D elements.) But I will take Sailko's nom into consideration here too. 22:39, 12 August 2025 (UTC)
I have account on Commons since 2013 and made about 2000 uploads, mainly for illustrating of articles and as part of competitions. The auto-confirmed status has always been enough for me. But when I fixed wrong coordinates of point of view for my upload I saw the message about a discrepancy between the coordinates in image description and the ones stored at SDC. And I found no way to fix coords in SDC. As it was explained to me on Abuse filter talk page it's impossible to do anything with SDC without COM:AP status. So I request this status to be able to make changes to SDC of my uploads if necessary. Thanks in advance.
Hello. I'm creating updated tropical cyclone tracking maps with new colors and I would like to request autopatrol rights. This will allow me to efficiently update my works and overwrite the older color versions created by other users on English wikipedia. I'd also like to help maintain file pages by removing redundant "=={{int:filedesc}}==" code for greater reader clarity. What's more, I want to be able to help update the path of currently active tropical cyclones. I have already made more than 500 edits on wikimedia commons. I would be grateful for your consideration of this permission to support my creation and contributions. Thank you. Leonardo Cirrus (talk) 04:11, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Leonardo Cirrus you were just denied this on 4 August 2025. Now you've come back with a duplicate request. I made this clear that racing to the 500 count won't be of any help. We need to see 500 useful non-botlike edits. What you've done is upload random images and then make 7 average edits on each one of them to race to the count. Still most of them require to be fixed. So I am a big no to this request. I would also advice you to work constructively without seeking to collect rights ASAP. Shaan SenguptaTalk07:58, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I'm sorry for making you feel that I'm racing, but it's really not the thing I'm doing. After my last request, I haven't been able to overwrite the existing files, so I had to upload my own works with a slightly different file name. I'm doing this just because I want to help update the track maps with new colors, just like what I've said before. I don't mean to seize the rights, indeed, I just want my work to be more convenient with autopatrol. By the way, please let me know which part of the files require to be fixed so I can check on them. Leonardo Cirrus (talk) 08:18, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I told @you the last time too to request overwriting files at COM:OWR. As for the fixes required in the files I will give you an example, please see one of your uploads i.e. File:Nina 1953 path.png. There are two headers for Summary and licensing. And its obvious we don't need the second ones. Others too have the same issue. Shaan SenguptaTalk10:03, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Now I see the issue. One definitely needs autopatrol to do that. But racing to 500 count remains but I will leave the decision to admins from here on. Shaan SenguptaTalk11:00, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I am Javidd, a Wikimedia Commons user, requesting patrol access. I have been active on Commons for over 4 years, with 4200 edits, mostly uploading and categorizing sports photos under the open source license (CC BY-SA 4.0). I have filed over 200 deletion requests for copyright-infringing or unrelated images at Commons:Deletion requests, most of which have been approved. I check for recent changes daily and am familiar with Commons policies, especially regarding licenses and image quality. Patrol access helps me review new edits more quickly and helps reduce vandalism. Thanks to the community for reviewing my request. Best regards, Javidd (talk) 15:16, 2 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have been editing templates and modules in many wikis for years (sv:wikt:Modul:bjform), and I would like to do such edits here whenever need arises. There is no single template or module that I intend to edit frequently. Protected edit requests frequently take long time to process, and they constitute one of several backlogs on this wiki. Thank you. Taylor 49 (talk) 09:10, 1 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
My previous request was submitted in May of this year, when I was denied the template editor right, but since then I have been actively editing templates. I even have the interface administrator right on kywiki. Incalltalk08:37, 11 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
As a rough guideline, administrators usually require editors to have made at least 1,000 useful, non-botlike edits or a large amount of justified renaming requests at Commons before they will consider granting the filemover right.
I've only requested 79 file moves so far and I would like to do a lot more, but I don't want to flood admins and filemovers with requests, which is why I've ended up only requesting moves sporadically. But since I'm obviously interested in correcting and (if needed) improving file names, I believe I should make myself useful instead of shying away from it. I've read Commons:File renaming and related policies, and will be returning to them. Thank you! Sinigh (talk) 18:12, 20 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
FYI: I'm currently travelling and will be away for the rest of the month, but if anyone has any questions during this time, I'll respond as soon as I'm able to. Sinigh (talk) 09:56, 23 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I understand the criteria and I have made some requests myself which have then been carried out by other users. I believe I could make good use of the right. Thank you. Alavense (talk) 04:24, 21 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Requested a couple of renamings before, but only today noticed the considerable backlog in the respective maintenance category. I read and understood the guidelines and would like to work on this backlog. Thank you. Tkarcher (talk) 08:32, 28 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @Tkarcher thank you for applying. I can see just one renaming request from you, that too just before applying for this permission. Can you point us to more (if there are). Even that one is of a minor spelling mistake suggested by the uploader as you said there. If this is the case and you dont have more than one RR, I would suggest you gain some experience by making a few and then come back. Shaan SenguptaTalk12:56, 28 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hm. I also can't find any previous ones right now, but admittedly, this was years ago, so either they were not marked with the respective tags back then, or I did it without being logged in. Either way: I requested the renaming of five additional files today [1] to (hopefully) prove I've understood the guidelines and criteria. --Tkarcher (talk) 11:08, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
